Prestige-wise, it's easily top 10. Everyone knows who the president is, most people know the vice-president too. And you probably know who the governors of California, Texas, Florida, and New York are if you're politically engaged. After that, mayor of New York is the elected official an American is most likely to know by name. Congressmen are sort of on their own, they have to fight for fame once they're in, so no Congressional seat has inherent prestige.
