Really makes you think. Then again, it wouldn't have been a holiday during his lifetime, and he was shot and killed in 1968. So it took 15 years to become a national holiday. Juneteenth took the same amount of time (completely forgotten as a concept for 130+ years, remembered in the late 1990s, resurrected by some activist). |

On March 19, 1991, NFL owners voted to remove the 1993 Super Bowl from Phoenix after Arizona voters failed to make Martin Luther King Jr. Day a paid holiday.
This is why columbus day is now a fake holiday where banks are closed but you still have to work. |

Columbus Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day/Labor Day (to an extent). Just the government schools and banks close. The only true holidays are Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years. That probably would include Easter although it's a Sunday anyway. |

That being said next next year will be first year Juneteenth will not be on a fri/sat/sun/mon. Are people going to be excited about a random Wednesday off? Interestingly when Juneteenth is on a Wednesday July 4 is on a Thursday.
Anyway, I think they should fix as third Monday of June if they want some synergy with fathers day |
