I got into a more serious relationship with a chick I met off a dating app... We ended up having a bunch of mutual friends in common and went from there so I haven't been on SA in ages... However, for your situation I think it's fine, just use a google voice burner number and ideally don't take them to where you live until you've hooked up with them at least once and aren't getting any sketchy or crazy vibes.
