there is GOD, including the LOGOS and then there are what Maximus the Confessor called the "logoi"-- they're metaphysical pins, the teleological other that inheres in all natural objects, or the agents of Being in the realm of Becoming

most of modern day magical practice is maybe as old as the 18th century. there was some continuity at one point (pagan magicians definitely had a presence throughout Byzantine society), but it's really unclear how much if anything was really transferred to the West when Renaissance occultists started seriously engaging in the stuff again. it's also not clear much of THAT really got passed on in anything like a coherent form-- I think it's best to look @ a lot of claims of transmission as essentially warlock kayfabe |

hence, we don't know about "reality" from outside of the singular experiential standpoint. everything beyond that is conjecture.
now, imagine if what you know as "reality" has an existential LOCALITY to it, ie, it is particular TO YOU. if that were the case, then the contours of reality may well be malleable within the locality bounded by the phenomenon of your experience.
this kind of radical existential locality is unprovable, but quite interesting. |
