hhi: this year should be around 635k. i switched firms and make 475 base plus 20% of everything i bring in over about 350k. my first month at the firm i originated like 220k. but i am being conservative and assuming 525k plus my wife's 110k. i could make like 700 though, but we'll see what unfolds.
nw: $2.55 million, not counting home equity. counting house, around an even $3 million.
i've sensed the last few years that i was getting to the point where i could walk away from law if i wanted and i think i'm there. i plugged 2.5 mil into an S&P calculator and ran it from 2010 - 2025. $15.5 million. so if we didn't save another dime, if historical returns hold i'm set. even if they're lower than normal we'll have $8-10 million. i worry sometimes about my book, where my work will keep coming from, etc. but i almost immediately think "wait a second, this doesn't matter. even if it crashes and burns you're fine" and a calm washes over me.
