Date: June 27th, 2025 12:01 AM Author: razzle-dazzle out-of-control station haunted graveyard i'm actually alright with some types of socialist-lite to socialist economic solutions at a localized and small-scale level to deal with some of the unique issues that high density urban areas face but so many of these guys promise these broad revolutionary reforms at a macro level and it's clear that they're just talking out of their asses without actually having any idea of how this stuff works or how so much of it has been tried verbatim to their descriptions in the past only to utterly bomb across the board rent freezes? state run grocery stores? in active competition with private sector grocers? and all of this is thrown at you in these punchy but substance-lacking two minute sound bite friendly clips and you get the impression that it's just politics porn for over-educated senseless late 20 year old "tourists" of a sort what he will do is open the prisons, defang the nypd, and the resultant increases in property and violent crime will likely create more drag on the health of the urban system than any of his proposals can ameliorate |

Date: June 27th, 2025 12:55 AM Author: razzle-dazzle out-of-control station haunted graveyard at a glance: landlords aren't always making huge margins on their rented out properties and with increases in taxes/levies it's going to tighten those even further. rent freezes can work but they need to be done by a case by case basis and based on need imo. state controlled grocers competing with private grocers will likely not only be a major loss leader for the city (at least at first) but will end up causing price distortions in supply chains that may (and often do) lead to general increases in prices on certain goods by skewing demand and creating unsustainable buying trends. there's also all sorts of conflicts of interest at play there and depending on how the city handles contracts and procurement it's probably going to be as laden with grift as other NYC city systems, things like the old taxi medallions and alcohol licensing come to mind |
