near peers have good EW jamming (unlike the Taliban) so you need to use frequencies that require line of sight, or use other drones as repeaters, or fiber optic cables
so basically the pilot needs to be within 20km or so and sometimes closer |

Those guys are flying high above uncontested airspace with no electronic warfare interference. Against China, Reaper and Global Hawk will be nearly useless in attack roles since they won't be able to get close without getting shot down or jammed.
The Ukraine FPV one way drones all run on fiber optic cable specifically to avoid jamming, and those are limited to something like 5-8 miles for physics reasons. |
