Birdshits take on Japan are always so lolzy. HEre are you a fat Birdshit walking arnd Tokyo whining how diverse it is now. Oh wow maybe if u care so much abt Jap purity u shld i dunno seppuku urself at shibuya crosswalk
The fact is Japs did this to themselves, they had no choice and now the Jap govt for years has on the downlow let in more and more migrants. The only good thing is it sounds like they arent letting in that many Niggas or Muzzies, its mostly Turdshits, Nepalese, Indos, Chinks, Viets, and other NOWAGS. That is far better than what western Euro has done or US with beaners.

Bummer to hear this and it sort of puts me into mourning. I opened an office in Tokyo in 1985 and was there a lot. A truly unique place and very comfortable to visit. Found this funny picture from 1986 https://imgur.com/IpChNzb Apparently the casually dressed guy was on a bike and had bought something big. The very helpful and well dressed salesman tied it to the back for him. Typically very excellent service. In department stores a young lady would take your money then run to a cash register then run back again to save you the trouble of walking.
Japanese were not welcoming to gaijin in the those days - immigration was nearly impossible and they were throw-you-in-jail serious about visas. They weren't rude, but it was clear you were always a crazy foreigner.
Had a lot of trouble staffing the office. Nobody wanted to work for an American company. All the Japanese I hired were regarded as goofballs by their Japanese friends. The one Japanese woman in the office was very hot and caused scandal by being overly familiar with the bosses. I took her out for a drink once after work and the gossip circuit buzzed for two weeks. It was a hard life for an individualistic Japanese. I must have heard "The nail that stands up gets pounded down" ten thousand times. She ended up moving to the US to get an M.B.A. and is still here so far as I know.

Your still not "old" friend.
An image just flashed into my head of a bunch of autoworkers chimping out and smashing up a Japanese compact around that time. I want to say it was in California during a strike, but CA seems like a weird place for autoworkers.
I was only 8 or 9 and remember thinking, you're ngmi if you get so mad at inanimate objects that you chimp out and smash them.

Yeah Japan had a yuge bike industry at one point, and that step-through style in particular is one you use for that purpose.
1. It's unisex
2. Even for men it's better than having to step over a bar that can crush your nutsack
3. More rugged design, with the tradeoff being weight. But you only care about weight if it's your personal bike. There's no reason to shave weight on a public bike.
I still have a steel Specialized that was made in Japan. Had it since the early 90s and it's still my favorite bike of all time. Japan used to also make those steel "touring" frames that no one has made in 25 years now.
EDIT: that leather saddle would probably cost $300 today

There used to be (maybe still is) an ex-pat newspaper in Tokyo aimed at English speakers living there. There was an article once about how one of the advantages of living in Japan was that you could come home from a meeting 3 days late and your wife would accept the excuse that you forgot your address.
