The XO fixation on the phrase "Black Wall Street" is retardedly and hilariously autistic. It's obviously an econ illiterate liberal arts shitheads' way of saying that blacks in Tulsa had established some amount of economic prosperity and independence. Tulsa is important bc there were 100+ events like it and 1000+ lynchings in the period between the civil war and WW2, all of which was done with the aim of threatening freed blacks with vigilante violence as a means of maintaining the racial heirarchy, and became emblematic of the south's insistence on a new racial apartheid government after slavery ended, which the North essentially looked the other way on for another 100 years. The fact that we've had so much diversity shoved down our throats in the past let's say 9 years (when was Trayvon shot?) and 99.999% of Americans don't know this history is evidence that the bullshit Southern lost cause nonsense about the war and reconstruction still has a lasting negative effect on Americans' understanding of the country's history today.

The answer is obvious. We should have a national holiday to celebrate the North winning the war. I would call it "Southern Surrender Day" and have it on April 9 every year. We should keep the confederate statues up and start a national tradition of pissing on them, covering them in graffiti, chipping away pieces of them, so we can come together and celebrate faggot southerners getting pwn3d and finally getting past the point in our history where faggot southerners can prevent Americans from learning about all the racial violence that shithead faggot southerners perpetrated on black people for centuries.

3. It determines what is held sacred in that society.

For modern Westerners the story of WWII has become their foundation myth. It fulfils all three functions.

We live in the ‘Post-War World’. The lines on the map, the institutions, the sense of what era we live in, all arise from the starting point of WWII.

Ultimate evil -> Nazis. Ultimate good is opposing Nazis. The values derived from these definitions are anti-racism, equality, diversity, anti-nationalism and so on.

The only thing that is held sacred, that cannot be denied or mocked in the contemporary West, is the Holocaust.

The problem is that all three functions are backwards or negative.

Instead of the origin event being one of fertility and new life, it was a conflagration of death and destruction.

Instead of ultimate good taking the central position in the story that slot is occupied by ultimate evil. Everyone knows that Adolf Hitler, the personification of evil, holds the centre point of the WWII story.

Instead of that which is held sacred being something mysterious and sublime it (the Holocaust) is an obscenity.

Having a negative foundation myth means the tree of life for Westerners is poisoned.
