They'd launch a hell of a lot more if they could given that UKR missile defense is practically 0 now without the US supplying patriot missiles. They launch whatever they have, and what they have is what they can make in the past month.
Same is true of artillery and armor. In 2022 Russia was expending something like 45,000 shells a day. Now it's a small fraction of that (maybe a few thousand). Tanks and IFV's deployed. Same thing. They largely depleted the old soviet stocks. It's small infantry charges across ukr drone fields. At this rate they'll never take the Donbass, let alone anything big like Kharkiv or Odessa. |

At this point people are pointing to little specs and villages on a map when they discuss movement. It really is something approaching WW1-style warfare. Yes, it was incorrect and idiotic for TDNW to post in 2022 that Russia has no weapons and relies solely on soviet era tanks and old men riding horses.
But also, assuming, as you did for the purpose of your post, that Russia has no stockpiles and is firing off missiles as they are produced in real time, this isn't necessarily positive for Russia. I think probably the opposite. They've been unable to make any progress or capture significant territory in a long time all while Ukraine has been completely cut off from US military aid.

of course a military never truly “runs out” because they ration ammo. Ukraine’s energy infrastructure was teetering this winter (after 4 years of constant bombardment) but russia simply can’t muster consistent massed attacks to push it over the edge and now it’s almost spring
so no, shooting $10 million missiles that you just produced a month ago is NOT a good sign |
