houston is probably objectively the best of the texas cities today. More authentic culture, better food, bigger, more yobs

the only problem is it's a bit of a third world soup where even nicer areas and restaurants have too many nigs and spics, which you don't see in dallas

San Antonio is mostly a resort/vacation economy with a military base and a couple universities and a hospital. There’s not a whole lot going on there and there’s no jobs so it’s not even a contender.

Austin has jobs, but it’s also kind of played out and expensive for what it is.

Houston is a real city with real problems and real people and as you say there’s a lot more food choices (although I don’t eat out), it’s got good jobs, good airport connectivity, access to a beach if you like fishing or boating recreation, access to the piney woods if you like forest recreation. The weather is roughly the same in all of these locals (Houston may get hurricanes but Dallas gets softball sized hail and tornadoes).

Houston gets shit on by outsiders and current residents because it does in fact suck. But any travelers actually know that of the Texas cities, it’s by far the best place to live in Texas in terms of opportunity, quality of life, being able to stack a couple million, have a wife, a family and maybe, just maybe, maek it.
