Why is like 10% of the news cycle "who will be the next James Bond"?

It seems like for a fucking decade now, every two months there's some story that "Tom Hardy/Theo James/Aaron Taylor Johnson is the next James Bond."
Then ever 6 months they say that the front runner is Idris Elba or some other black guy, and libs and conservatives fight over this bullshit on Twitter.
