It can't be competition, because there is plenty of that in the cell phone or computer market -- both of which were subject to Trumpflation.

TVs are even immune from the tariff increases too. Are LG and Samsung selling these things at a loss just to sell their ads to you in their bloatware?

Then explain why cell phone aren't subsidized by their ad generating revenue?

Replacing a TV every 1-2 years is absurd, its just a static object that just sits there for decades.

A phone is tossed around, dropped, and gets its screen cracked. It is a $1000 rock that becomes useless due to the fallibility of man. Therefore, there is high demand for these 'smartphones' beyond their capability of vomiting ads and spying on you.

cell phones are a lot cheaper than they used to be too, it's just that GC is doing a much better job of keeping the hamster wheel spinning. there are more levers to pull (camera quality, OS updates forcing new hardware, making batteries hard to replace to encourage buying new phones, etc etc) to keep people buying new phones.

i would assume because the process for however the fuck we make screens has had continuous improvements?

an 8080 cost like $300 bucks in the mid-70s (basically the price of a nice computer today). it's not exclusive to monitors, prices for lots of electronics have fallen continuously

lots of consumer goods are. and for the same reason a computer in 1995 cost 10x more than on today inflation adjusted and is 1000x slower.

attention is all you need

the tv records you and sells your profile to advertisers "man in his 40s, has 9 subscribed streaming services, plays the 1st level of games, sounds gay, looks gay"

In a highly competitive market, there’s no room to raise prices and also no margins.

Nintendo raised prices to make the Switch 2 look like a better value despite lack of games

PS5 is winning the gen so they raised prices

Xbox is like “ 😡 fuck you guys” and is ready to take their ball and go home and raised prices for no reason

TVs are commodities and can’t play games like that imho.
