one thing I don't understand about shitlibs or shitcons is them rooting for failure of the other "team." this includes OP, from what I've seen before (and he's probably projecting here tbh).
anyone who is too obsessed with partisanship to want the best for all their fellow citizens is a BAD PERSON. this goes for 100% of politicians - they'll openly admit this - and way too many non-politicians. you people need to WAKE UP.

A team of Harvard social psychologists (Lehr, Ferreira, and Banaji, 2017) selected Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees fans (rivals comparable to fans of Ohio State and Michigan football) as participants. In several surveys, they asked the fans how much they would pay to produce either their own team's win versus the rival team's loss. Overall, fans were willing to pay more for the rival’s loss than their own team’s win.
The surveys were completed over a period of a few years; in this time, the relative fortunes of the Red Sox and the Yankees reversed. The willingness to pay was stronger when the participants' own team was behind in the rivalry; that is, when fans had more to gain (in relative status) by seeing the rival falter.

no, there's a difference between:
1) enjoying watching sports;
2) having favorite teams; and
3) being HEAVY into teams and rivalries and stuff
my parents are into hockey and go to games a lot and are long-time Caps fans but they don't get UPSET when they lose, nor would they be the people in that study who would rather see rivals lose.
