Stargate by a mile. Additionally SG-1 was a top 10 TV series. The Highlander derivations got successively worse.

Let's limit the discussion to the original movie for each franchise.

Still Stargate.

Have you rewatched Highlander as an adult? I could barely stand it. Although I do think it has a better soundtrack.

Why was the Stargate program entrusted to the Air Force? Not believable

What is the alternative?

A large part of the show was different countries, national factions, even from within the military trying to obtain/keep control over the facility and the gate itself.

Taken all in all, Highlander is better as a whole, but the first part of Stargate is an exceptional bit of film

Highlander had Sean Connery and a killer soundtrack by Queen.

Stargate had James Spader and a tranny.

Actually really captures the 80s-90s cultural shift.

I didn't say one was better than the other. Just that Highlander was very early 80s and Stargate was very 90s.

I actually enjoyed Stargate when I saw it in the theater in HS. Haven't seen it since then, or any of the TV shows.

I never watched Highlander until a couple of years ago on TV. Also never seen any of the sequels or TV show.

Since I actually watched Highlander today for the first time, it's Highlander, and despite it's obvious problems, it's not even close.
