They say it feels like the game that set the bar for 2025. It looks gay to me because I was a jock growing up and didn't play RPGs.
Donkey Kong Bananza is giving the Switch 2 a true showcase. Because it has no games. There are hours of rock punching. Critics are calling it the best rock puncher ever made.
Death Stranding 2 On the Beach is said to be pure Kojima, strange and heavy but still magnetic. I think you deliver Grubhub to people in this game, with 3D ray traced graphics.
Split Fiction has surprised a lot of people as one of the best co-op games around. It is made for people with friends so I haven't played it.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is pulling in the hardcore RPG crowd who are largely sex offenders, and earning real respect.
Blue Prince has become the indie favorite. I have not heard of it.
Monster Hunter Wilds is lining up to be one of the big co-op hits of the year. I don't "get" these games.
Avowed, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Ghost of Yotei, Hollow Knight Silksong, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, and Hades 2 are still on the way, and any one of them could shift the race once they land.

Date: August 22nd, 2025 3:05 PM Author: Diamond Dallas Trump what a shitty lineup of GOTY "candidates." i would just let the spot go unfilled. i looked at a list of top 50 games this year and they were all trash. if i gave it to something, it would probably be some indie game or berserker khazan, but i don't think khazan had good enough level design to deserve it (although the bosses were worthy).
edit: i just checked what i bought this year and everythinf that might deserve GOTY is an older game. Tempest Rising is the best 2025 release. |

There's a comical sequence at the start where you are traversing the city streets in a linear manner going through a "festival" to commemorate the party's expedition, and the exact same nigger NPC is cut and pasted into the crowd so many times that it just seems absurd. there is an asian female party member who is pretty bossy and abrasive. one of the female party members has a square jaw and seems slightly uglified. but that's about it. the most important female party member is hot and likable, at least up until the end of the game.
it has a bad story, but wokeness has nothing to do with it. it's definitely artsy and female-centric, but doesn't have any political editorializing or pushing shitlib values. |
