Not having to move a Camera constantly is underrated. You notice it when Women try to play 3D games how much extra effort it really is. There are only a few approaches to it really other than having a controllable camera:
Overhead or 3/4 view which just makes it feel like a mobile game
Tank controls and fixed camera angles
Kojima’s cinematic angles in MGS1-2
The western “make everything an FPS” approach
