Im trying to get an upgrade for my iPhone
For some reason, the CS is demanding I login to my apple account, something I never really use, to disable my "Find My" Device lock on my phone
I dont recall my details for iCloud.
I go to reset my Apple password, which then asks me to turn on Bluetooth on my PC and Phone, while scanning a QR code on my PC screen using the phones camera, All while im on the phone already with the customer service guy
JUST TO GET THE RESET CODE.
Not even to login, this is just to receive a code, to then reset the password
This then "hangs" for about a minute doing jack shit, I cancel out of it with zero progress made on accessing my iCloud bullshit, CS guy is still talking to me
I try another "method" & send a reset code to my email (an older one), which I also dont have the password for
So I need to get that emails pw reset, with an EVEN older "backup recovery" secondary 2FA email acct
I break into both of them
I open both of the inboxes, theyre completely inundated with spam , pornbots, 200 popups asking me about cookies, preferences, "smart inbox sorting" etc, everything barely functional & lagging, I cant even sift through to most recent email since its all "smart" sorted by "category" so the only emails I can see are literal porn bots and things selling me fake pills
I get back out of this russian nesting doll of email authentications, back to my Apple account, and finally put in a "code"
"Thank you. We’ll send you an update soon.
We are evaluating your information to determine when you will be able to reset your password."
This is what I am now looking at
At one point not flame also I was asked if I wanted to enable a fingerprint 2FA for my Hotmail account from 2004, I seriously almost lost my vision
Still reeling from all of this
Also I cant upgrade my phone now until I have my account back!

I use this but I can never tell where the vault "emanates" from,like, I have a password manager on Chrome, then a different "vault" of passwords under apple, a separate discrete password "app" , keychain etc, none of them seem to be horizontally integrated if I change device, browser
I hit "remember me" everytime, never clear my history etc, still nada
it doesnt really matter anyway since most of the passwords get saved wrong or under the wrong account, then I spend hours pasting in "codes" from my SMS, various emails, fingerprint, face ID etc to break into anything I need
its insane

UPDATE:
New iPhone, made a NEW iCloud account while setting it up since my Original account is basically deactivated/condemned by Apple for amorphous reasons with absolutely no way to recover it
The new iCloud got as far as logging into my new iPhone, then it was 'logged out' and locked or made 'inactive' by apple, according to them, its because the brand new account I made through their dumb terminal iPhone, "did not meet the T&Cs"
Added bonus: The "inactive" account, is now permanently logged onto the phone, and cannot be removed, as it is "inactive" any attempt to sign in when prompted for the password is met with a "verification failiure" any attempt to sign OUT is also blocked and greyed out, all options to "sign out" are unresponsive to touch also
This renders the phone virtually useless since everything is locked behind iCloud vertical integration, including, contacts, apps, banking
Spend 3 days with Apple CS chat lines and the answer is, they are powerless
Got asked to send my proof of purchase, sent it, and they "removed an activation lock" for me which apparently is an entirely different security system which was never engaged on my phone. my iCloud has simply been unilaterally, summarily inactivated on their end, with absolutely no transparency as to why
Phone is still unusable
I have a 3rd handset in the mail arriving tomorrow, what do you even do? Im basically fucked if i risk logging into my brand new phone tomorrow with any iCloud account, since at any moment it seems apple will just "lock" it and make it inactive
I literally made a brand new iCloud to avoid all this, wrote down the password, backed it up, and it was immediately locked down and deprecated on the backend by apple
So the password I had just made, autosaved, and wrote down on a notepad also to make sure I would not forget, stopped working,I was gaslit for hours by CS that I just had the wrong password, until they admitted the account was simply rendered "inactive" by their arcane systems, and there is no recourse to do anything
How does this company get away with this

I finally got through the byzantine "Live Chat" loop of indians telling me to do the same stuff and linking me to the same landing pages to "reset" my Apple Account. Got them to hand me over to a Senior Advisor.
I got Robocalled and IVR'd for like 5 seconds before a Woman picked up. She then screenshared with me and I showed her the hellish loop I was stuck in on the Phone itself.
She then sent me an email with steps on how we were going to fix it which boiled down to downloading the Apple desktop application.
Email link just sent me to Apple's website with a download link to their desktop Application.
Which is blocked on Windows :) ("This is only available in the Apple Store/App Store") presumably for iMAC only or their OS.
The advisor (a Woman) then told me I needed to "connect the iPhone using a USB"
Fortunately, Apple uses their own proprietary cables now. so I did not have a USB ended cable on hand with my phone!
The Woman advisor then said "uhm. we arent allowed to stay on the phone for time consuming steps (verbatim)" rushed me off the phone.
Got sent a link to my email to "follow up and request a callback" which I clicked and it just took me to their website again, my "ticket" had been marked as an "App store card decline issue."
So clearly the Woman basically just dumped my fucking case number into total obscurity, this is after a solid week+ of "case numbers" being applied to all of my "chats"
Spent $5 on Amazon to buy an Apple USB cable.
Found the actual desktop app in question on the "Windows App store" which I had to recover a hotmail/outlook for in order to be verified to download an app onto my own PC.
This time, I demanded the Senior Team instead of talking to the tiny pink online chat who have No Powers to Resolve Issues.
This time, a Man picked up the Phone.
This Man actually parsed what I was saying.
HE , UNDERSTOOD.
Guy had an italian accent and was an absolute Apple masterman.
Without being prompted, he immediately differentiated the DISTINCTION between having a LOCKED iCLOUD ACCOUNT and a phone with an ACTIVATION LOCK on it. These are TWO SEPARATE THINGS. That seemingly no one in two weeks wanted to admit to me. Until this absolute italian hero CONFESSED IT.
He then instructed me on HOW TO REMEDY THE ISSUE.
He told me "I am going to give you specific instructions on the sequence of button presses you need to execute in order to RESTORE your phone. Do NOT press the buttons. Wait for me to give you the sequence"
I SAID YES SIR
"Push and hold down the side POWER BUTTON for exactly 5 seconds, then while continuing to press and hold down the side POWER BUTTON connect the USB CABLE to your WINDOWS PC until your screen is populated with the icons of a CABLE AND LAPTOP COMPUTER...."
He guided me like we were defusing a bomb in one of those action movies
I executed the secret jutsu, lo and behold. the phone went into "recovery mode" and began purging the deprecated iCloud account. I am now looking at a fully fresh iPhone.
