i agree, it's just not very fun. i say this as someone who likes the sort of planning and analysis that fantasy football involves. but it doesn't 'fit' with the football theme at all, and it makes watching games really weird because you no longer follow the narrative of the game itself and you're instead focusing on and rooting for isolated things to happen that would help "your fantasy matchup"
i think that most of the reason that it caught on in the first place is because people just really really like gambling. and now we have straight up sports betting too, which is outright harmful and degenerate. the whole development is unsettling and kind of depressing tbh |
