Yes. I was a skeptic until I took a few weeks off and got to working with it on some personal projects. It is scary good. You have to know what you want to get good results, so some kind of engineer will still need to drive it, but I am convinced my job will look very different two or three years from now.

Crudmonkeys like myself are DONE HERE. I expect a select few Ragnus Tier programmers will be doing insane amounts of work driving with AI. I am looking into Bucees and BIGPOLICE.

I’m seriously considering making a move to product management, since there is overlap with senior engineering, and with AI I expect engineering to look much more like product management in the future.

To the extent non-technical PMs were already slowly becoming a thing of the past after ZIRP, it's only going to accelerate after this. The days of the type of PM who doesn't have any actual responsibility beyond "roadmaps" are numbered

PM should just be an entry level job. If they haven't progressed to product strategist or client engagement (biz dev) in 2-3 years, they should be gone imo

I'm actually working with Buc-ee's to stand up a private on-site security force if you're interested in merging the two.
