As a prepper one of the boogeymen you face is the prospect of wide scale powerful EMP weapons rendering a lot of preparations useless in a true shit hits the fan scenario.

It is generally implied in a lot of literature and sources that in a all out nuclear war EMP will be an unavoidable fact and will be a significant hindrance on recovery efforts. The thoight being an air burst nuke, in addiition to its destructive and radiological affects will also knock out all unprotected electronics within a certain radius. The same effect could also occur naturally through a Carrington Event-like scenario (if you dont know what that is i suggest googling). Its also postulated most/all nuclear powers have EMP dedicated weapons whose sole purpose is to achieve the above stated effects.

With that said we dont hear of EMP weapons in use by either side. Despite an environment where the biggest threats to infantry advance are electronically operated drones.

Weird.

Ass one wise man said its almost like this whole war is fake and gay.

Alternatively are EMP weapons bullshit or imaginary or practically useless for some reason? Perhaps because its equally devastating to both sides? Perhaps because short of air burst nukes its just not a possibility? Are slavs just dumb sub humans that cant figure this iut and need me to point it out on a message board for autistic lawyers?

Regardless an effective EMP usage if timed appropriately seems like it could really fuck up a high tech enemy relying to a large extent on little flying electronics.

Curious if others have thoughts.

I assume its possible to create an EMP without a nuke. Seems fake and gay that this would be impossible. Otoh, maybe EMP is itself fake and gay

it's not possible in any practical sense. nuclear EMPs are caused by ionizing radiation (gamma rays) interacting with the atmosphere in a short burst that strips away electrons. Movement of electrons = current. Current induces a magnetic field and a moving magnetic field induces current. If the pulse is strong enough, the resulting electromagnetic pulse could theoretically induce current in any conductor. Too much current = danger. Lightning strikes also induce a strong magnetic field, which is how some rocks become permanently magnetized following a lightning strike (similar to how thermoremanent magnetization is sometimes observed in cooling lava flows)
