For 'great books' are we talking Wealth of Nations, Leviathan, etc? I think a fair amount have read those. Or like epic of Gilgamesh type shit?
I suspect I've gotten further into Finnegans Wake than any other poaster here. It inspired my moniker. |

To me the "Great Books" are the ones written in the Victorian era or a bit earlier, when intellectuals had finally accepted that God is Dead and Life is Fundamentally Meaningless. Bartleby the Scrivener is more resonant than the Canterbury Tales today imho. |
