I do enjoy watching shows, but i used to watch a lot more because it was fun to argue and discuss them with people. You could have a mutual culture and humorous references based on those shows and movies.

If you're at work, you could be like "Talking to XYZ associate is like talking to Zoolander. You can explain it to him for 20 minutes and at the end he's like 'but why male models?"

Movies and show just don't hold the same place in the culture anymore, and for that reason, myself and others don't invest time in them - and it spirals downward.

Every now and then I see something made before 2010, especially 2005, or read a book from the 1990s, and it's an explosion of amazement in realizing how we were encouraged to be thoughtful and edgy and push the envelopes in talking about people and social observations and exploring characters. Then you're briefly sad at what has been lost.

House of the Dragon season three is later this year but you wouldn't know it unless you searched for the show's name and came across some weird fake hollywood reporter website. Personally I'm looking forward to The State of The House of the Dragon videos.

My wife watches the Pitt and I watch with her because I started watching and now for me to stop would be weird since we rarely watch the same thing. It is the most formulaic show. Is there an asshole? It is the white guy. Two times a nurse has been assaulted. Both white men-- one privileged (he was a golfer using cocaine). Etc.

Making movies used to have its seedy side, just a hint, but never blatant. Now its gross and unapologetic, like a favorite teddy bear from your childhood suddenly grows dangerously sharp teeth and claws. Back away slowly, because its only going to get worse.
