The rescue choppers are usually turbine ex-military or specially designed and cost between tens to over $100 million. They burn over $10k of fuel an hour, need several hours of maintenance per hour of flight time, and need 2 much more highly trained pilots plus crew with advanced livesaving training and an ambulance's worth of tech and supplies.
If anything, $70k is a bargain. |
