I generally agree, but if you haven't had *some* success prior to age 40, it's going to be hard. You can't just start exploring some totally new thing with no network, legitimate skillset, or capital base. You need two of these IMO to make it work. You don't need to be rich by 40, but the ingredients need to be there. Starting anew is just not realistic for the vast majority of people and shouldn't be an expectation.
Literally all of the exceptions to this are people we could name off the tops of our heads (Ray Kroc, the KFC guy, Rodney Dangerfield, maybe a couple more.)
If you really look at people who Maed It post-40, chances are whatever they did at that point related in some way to whatever they did before. Even if not obvious on the surface, they likely had a network that isn't clear to an outsider or access to capital.
