What's more, $10m is basically 0.01% of Gates' net worth. And when you consider that he has spent multiples of this sum on absolutely insane and ridiculous "charitable" endeavors (like drinking water funneled through shit), it's hard to not resent him if you're his kid. |

Because you then understand that being broke isn't necessarily the end of the world and you can deal with it. So if you swing for a home run and end up with nothing, at least you tried. My actual thought with Gates is he should've just committed to passing on the majority of his wealth to his family. But if he's not going to do that, he needs to go whole hog and trust that his kids have the ability to surpass him.
