Paying like 400 a night (which can get you a 5 star hotel in this city), plus a cleaning fee, and the first thing I see is an instruction manual saying I should take the trash out and gather up all the laundry and do the dishes before I leave. Yeah, right.

Seemed like a good idea because I’m spending a lot of time in it (have a lot of work to do). Hotel rooms are usually depressing to work from. On the plus side the place is legit nice, lots of light, dedicated study with a nice desk, solid furniture. And very central to bars which I plan to hit up big tonight

only stayed at a handful, but certain circumstances and locations it makes sense. our month in germany/amsterdam this summer will be about 33/67 airbnb's and hotels (one of the hotels books a % of their larger rooms on airbnb).

in the us i won't even consider an airbnb unless i'm staying 7++ days somewhere. i just can't get out of my head that it's run by 'smart' redditor that graduated from turos to airbnbs

It sucks, the comp is trash but I find this hate funny cause these clean the place up and shit stuff I dont see as much in Asia. Prices are still inflated but somoetimes I find decent places still. The clean up urself shit is just reflective of each country, US is a shit Jew society so naturally they come up with more and more rules to rape the customer. Its a rape society. Asia is a social harmony society so there's less of this shit

This is Europe where the service culture doesn’t really exist and everyone is used to it. I’ve lived here for several years and I’m still not totally used to that aspect, though US service culture has its own annoyances where waiters show up every 5 min making it impossible to have a conversation with anyone

it only makes sense if you're getting a type of property (cabin, lake house, 10 man party house, location exactly where you need it, full kitchen) that you can't get from a hotel. i've had a lot of good experiences, but like you mention, there are some annoying things too and so for like a solo business trip a hotel is always going to be simpler and more of a slam dunk

in tourist areas, local rental company >>>> airbnb. better to deal with a company that does it professionally, like a hotel, vs. some shithead investment property owner.

Still makes sense on stuff like ski trips or big family trips where you want a whole house, so the comparison is not vs one hotel room but vs 3 or 4. But I don't do it much.

it was great while the original concept of "rent a room or house while you're away!" existed.

it was great when it first came out, but like most tech companies, it got super scammy with all the hidden fees, and the user base shifted from random people trying to make some extra cash while away to absolute scumbags who buy properties specifically to airbnb them and rape their guests on fees, which obviously sucks
