Date: August 26th, 2025 5:43 PM Author: ,.,..,.,..,.,.,.,..,.,.,,..,..,.,,..,.,,. you can compare the original fantasia with the 1999 version and note the decline. fantasia #1 was over two hours long and was a pastiche of elemental/universal themes (death, resurrection, etc.) with some humor mixed in, like mickey fighting with his mops. the soundtrack starts with bach's famous organ piece and ends with ave maria, a self-enclosed metaphysical journey.
fantasia 2000 was 75 minutes long and looked okay. but its centerpiece was a limp and disconnected segment set to rhapsody in blue, which broke the tone of the rest of the film and was obviously shoehorned in there so that they could use an NYC setting for racial diversity purposes.
the overall production is occasionally pretty and not very coherent or meaningful, which is why it is already forgotten. |
