Date: July 6th, 2026 10:03 AM Author: zarathustra it really doesn't help anyone except companies wanting to delay bad news and hide performance numbers under thicker layers of reporting. nobody is going to be able to cut fat from their fp&a or accounting departments because of this and on the investor side people still have their jobs to do, just with less data. i haven't been following but i wouldn't be surprised if there is so much inertia around the quarterly norm that both sides will suggest keeping status quo. if nothing else the trading community will complain and they have an audience in lutnick and bessent. But, at least (a) the quarterly reports must come out on a regular, fairly frequent basis and (b) there is some backstop (SEC enforcement) to the level of fraudlies and flame therein. Doing away with quarterly reports will increase the levels of fraudlies and flame. Of course, SEC enforcement is down, too.
