I've had multiple professors who have cheated, broken university rules, and broken defamation, federal privacy laws. Nothing has happened to them.
Robert Hockett: broke defamation laws, harassed a student
Peter Goodrich: broke defamation laws, harassed a student, violated federal privacy laws
Frank Weiss: harassed a student, violated defamation laws
Why don't universities enforce their rules?

Dear XXX,
I found your note to Prof. Harrington in my mailbox, and subsequently he
told me you e-mailed him. I had asked you previously to address your
questions only to me.
Your instructor did not refuse to discuss your homework grade with you:
The discussion lasted ca. 20 minutes. There are witnesses. He did not
lie to you; you lied to us.
You also attacked the instructor verbally, and by e-mail, making bizarre
accusations. This is the third instructor out of four you have attacked
in such a manner. The fourth class, Statistics, you dropped.
XX, as I've told you before, there is something seriously wrong
here. To have even the slightest chance of achieving your professional
goals, your behavior must change. From September, we will have a new
Student Assistance Program available. I talked to them about you today,
and was advised in the strongest terms that you should indeed avail
yourself of their services. Please ask me for their contact information
come September.
Sincerely,
Weiss

Dear XX,
Don't you remember this?
XX,
I anticipate that the exam will take you no more than 2 hours. I sent the exam out through WebCt mail at about 10:30 ET yesterday.
Good luck,
MCF
XX, you are not engaging with the real problems. You have imagined a problem, and are letting it divert you. I urge you to seek medical attention. As I said, if I can be of any assistance, please let me know. For starters, do you have health insurance? Where do you live?
Best,
Weiss
What is deeply troubled about asking for an extension on an exam that wasn't delivered on time? I have mentioned this to multiple professors who agreed that it is perfectly reasonable. If they agree with me, why is this troubled?

Professor Weiss:
You haven't said anything very clearly, and I've forwarded the note to a number of people who agree with me.

Prof. Weiss:
It wasn't mentioned on the exam that this exam was supposed to take two hours, and the professor didn't enforce a two hour limit on any of the students. Where on the exam is this information stated? I have kept in keeping with the facts. How am I imagining slights based on what is stated in the exam? If several professors agree with me, how am I overreacting ?

Dear XX,
Thank you for your response, and for your second e-mail. You neglected to mention in your post that this was a two hour exam. Your time requirements for taking the final exam are contrived. Your demands are completely unreasonable. I will take no action on this matter. There is no academic issue with the timing of the exam; there is only a personal concern.
The personal concern is for your health. Your behavior has been bizarre: You have tried by e-mail to provoke all your instructors in response to imagined slights, and you have made an incomprehensible request for more examination time, presumably in response to what you feel is another slight. Your behavior is unacceptable. It imposes extremely high costs on others, and on yourself, too, I would think. You do not acknowledge that there is anything wrong. There is something very wrong, and we cannot go on like this. Your behavior must change, for the sake of everyone at the program, but perhaps most of all for your own sake.
XX, this must be resolved, or it will end in a sea of tears. I have a residual hope that you do not want such an end. Maybe you have such a hope, too. I suggest as a first step that you undergo some psychological assessment. Perhaps simple treatment can help you amend your behavior and help you in dealing with the world.
Sincerely,
Weiss

Dear XX,
Thank you for your e-mail. I have inserted the e-mail you sent me yesterday morning, but had not yet answered, immediately below your current e-mail, for the record.
As for the matter at hand, it is inconceivable that anyone could spend 24 hours on a final exam, much less 36. If anyone actually did spend 24 hours on such an exam, or merely claimed to have spent 24 hours on such an exam, there would be something very seriously wrong. Thus, there is clearly something very seriously wrong here. You need not contact Dr. Fratantoni in this matter. Please deal directly with me in all program matters.
XX, you seem very unhappy. If you wished, we could talk. I do know that we can't go on like this.
I saw that your permanent address is New Mexico. If you don't live near DC, or don't come down to DC often, we could talk at the very beginning of the Summer Semester on your first day of class. Otherwise, it would be best to talk sooner. Please let me know.
Sincerely,
Weiss
Prof. Weiss:
In order for me to get additional time for this exam this semester, I need to contact Mr. Fratantoni quickly. Everyone else in the class who didn't have technical problems had 36 hours to devote to what has been erroneously called a 2 hour exam, whereas I had 24 hours to give to this exam. That is a sizeable difference whether they spent 0 hours on the exam or 36 hours on the exam. In order for this to be fair, I should be given an additional 12 hours to spend on the exam in order to be given an equal time with the other students. Otherwise the discrepancy would be unfair, and the grading would be arbitrary.
Prof. Weiss:
With all due respect, the time constraint was binding on the students, and all of the students except for me were given 36 hours to complete the 2 hour exam. They had 12 additional hours to work on the exam, or to take a break and return to the exam with a fresh perspective. I was rushed to finish the exam in 24 hours, and I didn't have the same opportunity to review my work. The time difference definitely affected my performance. If I had had 12 more hours I would have done a better job than I did. It's certainly not fair for me to be deprived 12 hours that the other students in the class had. We weren't told to only spend 2 hours on the exam, and I didn't find the exam to be a 2 hour exam.
Over the semester I attended regularly, and I submitted my work on time, so I should be allowed the same rights in the course as the other students. The loss of 12 hours definitely makes a difference in any student's performance on an exam. To compare this with a similar testing problem that I've observed, let me say that I sat at a computerized standardized test where another student had a frozen computer. The testing center immediately compensated him for the technical problems. I should be similarly compensated for the technical problem in getting me the exam, so I have the same amount of time to do the work as the other students.
On 4/30/07, Frank D. Weiss <fdw@tidalwave.net > wrote:
Dear XX,
The time constraint for the exam was not binding. Thus, I see nothing to deal with.
Weiss
Prof. Weiss:
With all due respect, I took the exam and didn't think it was a 2 hour exam. Mr. Fratantoni also taught a 16 week course in 12 weeks, and I don't think the amounts of time there are the same. If they are the same, then I don't understand why I'm taking an extra four weeks in my courses. With all due repsect, if the extra time for this exam was irrelevant, then why wasn't I allowed it? It wouldn't have posed a problem to either the professor or to my fellow students.

Subject: macro theory final exam
Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2007 08:32:25 -0400
To: joe.harrington@jhu.edu
Prof Harrington:
I took Macro Theory this semester with Prof. Fratantoni. The final exam was originally scheduled for yesterday, and we were then told the final would be emailed to us. If it was emailed on the day of the final that would have been yesterday. Either way, I wasn't to get the exam from WebCT but from my email account. He has emailed me at this account a couple times, and he has this email address on file for me.
Prof. Fratantoni emailed the exam Wednesday morning at 10:30ET, instead of giving the exam on the originally scheduled day. I didn't receive any copy of the exam in this email account or my JHU account so I have to accept his word that he emailed me the exam. I found out that the exam had been sent out when I went to WebCT to check for notices about the final exam Wednesday night. The technical error, assuming that the professor did send me the exam, wasn't my fault. I don't know why the exam wasn't received by my email account. I didn't opt to sign up for a distance learning course in part because of the types of technical problems and miscommunications like this that can result.
Since the other students were given 36 hours to complete the exam, I shoud be given the same amount of time. Mr. Fratantoni didn't give me an extension to make up for the 12 hours I lost when the other students received the exams and I didn't. I've turned in the exam, but I still should receive an opportunity to work further on the exam or additional points to make up for the lost time. Could you please respond to me regarding this?
Thank you for your time and assistance.

I have yet to see any indication of new and better realities. I keep seeing old and disgusting realities that new people want to keep alive only because they apparently have very little going on in their derivative, imitative lives except for fighting other peoples' battles and living other peoples' lives. New and Better realities is a false illusion.

Link to evidence of federal privacy law violations and blacklisting?

I'm not putting all of my discovery on-line,so I'm declining to post certain links. This isn't be the place to post the links. If defamation is a tort then it's a civil law infraction, which is my point.
People need to grow up by not (1) making defamatory remarks, (2) committing blacklisting crimes (3) harassing students verbally. Uhhh, pretty sure, this isn't mature behavior. Stop blaming the victim. Grow a pair, and blame the perpetrators. If you're too scared to do the right thing then scamper away and hide under the bed until the bad guys leave.

In other words, nothing criminal.
From what you've posted, you don't seem to be the victim here. If you have other evidence that's your business, but you shouldn't expect people to sympathize with your position on the basis of things you won't share with them.

I don't think this shtick required the buildup it received. These emails are a substantial source of material, and good enough for a quality shtick on their own.

Okay, now I'm confused.
You claim that a prof made negative referrals to potential employers: how in the hell would you know this?
You wouldn't for two reasons:
1) Referrals, as a matter of law, are limited in terms of what can and cannot be said.
2) No recrruiter/HR person would ever, EVER admit that the referral was the reason you DIDN'T get the job. Even if the referor violated (1), the HR person would not likely admit it to you. I've been in the referral position, on both sides, and when comment is made, and the applicant is contrued in a negative light, I NEVER TOLD THEM WHY.
So we can dismiss your accusations that negative referrals were made.
That said, you seem to have issues with multiple professors, which begs the question:
Knowing you have issues with professors, why list them as referrals?
so we can dispose of the allegation that they were used as references, further calling into question the validity of any of this.
And finally - your argument against your so called prof is asinine.
The prof clearly indicates, repeatedly, that the exam shouldn't take more than 2 hours to complete.
That said, whining about how everyone else had a 12 hour start on you (or that they had more time) is, as your professor pointed out, not a reasonable issue.
Had this been a test with a serious, 24 hour time requirement, you *might* have an argument. However, to prove this in a court of law, you would have to find a student willing to testify that it took them more than 2 hours to complete. Good luck with that.
Now, how many people have to tell you that you should see someone about your obvious mental impairment before you actually listen?
Here's a follow up question:
Why on earth would you publish this information? Are you aware that doing so puts you in jeapordy for a counter-claim of defamation (especially since you have now been identified by the prof and listed them by name, including their address and phone number?
Most importantly - you do realize that you are committing academic suicide, right?
That indicates clear mental issues. Go see a shrink and stop wasting your time.
If you really have consulted an attorney who advised you to sue, you would likely have been advised to refrain from discussing this matter. AND you'd ALREADY HAVE FILED SUIT!
Clearly, this is flame.
See a shrink, putz. You've got issues.
That is all.

1. The professor wasn't listed as an official reference. None of the professors were listed as references.
2. The professor had job related information no one else had.
3. I got fired from two jobs in very bizarre ways that have never happened before.
4. The employers who fired me told me the professors did it.
5. Who are you to question facts when you're far more removed from the fact pattern than I am?
6. Do you usually dispense amateur legal advice and amateur doctor's diagnoses as if you had credentials and expertise in the area? Do you play a doctor on tv? Did you tell your parents you're a doctor?

1. Then why did you say they gave you a bad reference?
2. This means nothing. This is also likely bullshit.
3. Wow. Really? You got fired in bizarre ways? That falls in line with your psycological problems, now doesn't it?
4. The employers, then, opened themselves up for a lawsuit. We both know this didn't happen. This is the weakest element of your story. I have employed close to 300 people in my previous career. I would never fire anyone based on what someone claiming to be an employees professor would say. Liar. Please feel free to tell me how a professor got you fired. I'm sure you'll think of something and I'm sure I'll find it as unbelievable as everything else you've said.
5. I am me and base my questions on the insane ramblings you've posted. A sane person wouldn't post this bullshit on XOXO if it was real. An insane person might.
6. Do you usually frequent XOXO for legal and medical advice? Are you a moron? Have you ever considered the fact that you have severe and crippling mental health issues? I tell my parents that I am a law student. Do you tell your parents you've managed to alienate all of your professors, create trust issues with your school, make wild accusations in innapropriate emails and that your professors have advised you to seek out professional treatment?
I'm guessing you leave all that out.
Here's the deal - you came on here with a made up story. We've poked holes in it and now you are mad.
So sorry.
May I ask you why an attorney would tell you that you should sue, then refuse to represent you?
May I ask you to provide me with a scenario wherein your legal counsel would approve of you posting some details about your "law suit" on-line, along with information about the defendants in the case?
You.

My understanding - and I just skimmed it, so who knows - is that all the other students were sent the exam 36 hours before it was due and due to a glitch, he got his 24 hours before it was due. He wanted 12 extra hours to be given time to review his work, but the professor denied him those 12 hours because the actual test-taking should only take a student 2 hours.
If I had a busy life, I'd be pretty pissed about being shorted 12 hours too. I don't know why everyone is calling the OP psycho and I don't know why the professor just keeps telling him to get help.

Eh, there's 2 sides to every story. Given how ridiculous the professor's constant "seek medical attention" pleas seem in this context, I'm guessing the OP left out a few choice emails or incidents.
I still think he should have gotten the extra 12 hours on the test.

Jesus fucking christ, people.
The test was only supposed to take 2 hours. Whether you had 36 or 24 is a moot point. Those additional 12 hours are of no advantage. There's nothing you can do in a 2 hour UG econ test in 36 hours that you cannot do in 24. Therefore, his claims of disadvantage are empty.

It was sent out through WebCT. If he had made some time for it - say scheduled to work a late shift so he could take it that morning - and then got it 12 hours late, that's pretty shitty.
Working full time and going to school full time can be pretty hard. I have no idea what the OP's schedule is like, but I can certainly think of cases where I'd have been pissed off too.

But even if he spent the 12 hours jerking off, why not just give it to him if everyone else got it?

No. You know at the beginning of the semester that you have a TWO HOUR exam on a certain date and you will have 36 HOURS to turn it IN.
Why not give a student the extra 12 hours if everyone else got it? Why not give a student the extra 12 hours even if that gave him (or possibly gave him) 48 hours instead of the 36 hours everyone else got?
