Exactly. Try doing 20 squats with perfect form no rest at a moderate weight, you should be dying at about #10 or #11. That said, a majority of my training is low rep high weight since I'm natural.

One time I saw a guy having a rough time of half squats with 225. I thought for sure he was DONE THERE but then he put on another 50lbs and got a spotter and started doing quarter squats. I was LOLing at what that spotter must have been thinking. Then the guy sent for the full three plate squat and was only moving the weight a few inches as the spotter helped.

I know squats are considered goat potus, but they are not the best for targeting glutes because so much of the weight is handled by the quads. Deadlifts, goodmornings, single leg DLs and lunges are much better for targeting glutes and hams.

this is total bullshit and i have heard other crossfitters blindly repeat it on several occasions. if you can squat three hundo, you are go to have very good glute development as a matter of necessity. what you are talking about is the fact that squatting with shitty form and for high reps does not build substantial glute bulk, which i agree with. it's still the overall best heavy glute building exercise.

and lolz lolz lolz at the idea that deadlifting is a superior glute developer. i have read most of the gold standard BB manuals and plenty of the new stuff, and none of them agree with this.

the only valid point nestled in here is that knee-collar parallel movements like lunges are probably overlooked, but in terms of having to choose a single exercise to develop your lower body? there is really no choice unless you're a brainwashed crossfitter repeating shit passed around on tumblers and blogs by full blown 'tards.

90% of people do 90% of exercises wrong at your typical mass market gym.

Think about it . . . bench press is one of the easier movements yet how often do you see someone with a proper back arch with 3 points of contact (feet/ass/lats), use leg drive, bar grip so that forearms are perfectly perpendicular to floor and weight is transferred directly to forearms instead of losing strength to bent wrists, etc? It's rare to see someone benching right and even rarer to see good squats and deadlifts.

Even with trainers it takes people awhile to fully activate certain muscles. TCR is reduce the weight and do the movement slowly until you feel the full contraction. But nobody wants to look like a pussy and do this.
