It looked like I would have to get an education degree to teach in public schools and that was going to take like another year and a half. Law school was three years and promised more money so. Don't want to go back to school and private schools are hard to get jobs at. |

I got canned in January for similar reasons (small firm with financial issues; zero training or development for 3.5 years; plus I got super sick for a few weeks which affected performance). Lined up a couple of interviews immediately after; COVID hit, and I was fucked.
Bright side is that my two recent leads right now (no interviews yet, but informal email/phone calls with hiring manager/firm department chair) would get me back home (currently 1000 miles away from family).
