Can an employer fire you for going to the doctor?!

I gave my boss 2 weeks heads up that I was going to the doctor, he was ok with it.
I tried to schedule around work, but couldn't, so my appt was at 9 today.
After my appointment, I came into work around 11:00, and my boss went apeshit, asking why i was late and where the fuck I was.
I reminded him of the appointment, and he told me I need to make those appointments outside of work time, and the next time this happens he'd fire me.
WTF?! |

There are very limited exceptions for certain discriminatory motives, most of which aren't relevant here. that's right; under the at-will doctrine, even if an employer writes a letter that says "you're fired for going to the doctor," the resulting wrongful termination suit has no chance.

Anyway I would suggest that the OP start looking for employment elsehwere, and in the mean time just slack off at his current place until he gets laid off, so he doesn't miss out on UE benefits |
