is that an old datejust or some other model? i would be up to buy a used datejust from before the early 2000s, since rolex fucked up the new model. don't know what's a good price though. also i would prefer a non-black dial.

You pathetic striver, what about Patek/Vacheron/Audemars?

Jk, I would get a used Sea-Dweller or Deep Sea.

Although I can dream about the new AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver ($15k and very hard to find at a dealer, apparently).

In terms of investment, watches are generally a terrible investment, although with a used watch you'll lose less on a resale (especially with Rolex). The Rolex secondary market is also more active/liquid so your Rolex would sell faster if you ever decide to sell or trade in.

I don't see a lot of investment opportunities out there in conventional investments, so the opportunity cost of owning a nice watch is not that bad.

Last point, don't forget to factor in maintenance costs. A Rolex Service Center full service would be quite expensive relative to the purchase price of the watch you're considering.

Also if you are not experienced, only buy from a reputable brick-and-mortar store, not online. Ideally bring an experienced friend along to examine the watch for authenticity, condition, etc.

The fakes out there are scary good although Rolex in particular works very hard to stay a few steps ahead of the counterfeiters.

Find Chinee person online, have them send you pics of Fauxlex, crack the caseback and have them send you pics of the movement...profit. The biggest problem will probably be the lume, and who the fuck is going to be looking at your watch in the dark?
