It's narrower and bends more. It's not critical. The chalk is critical. You can also get a gripper and improve your grip strength.

donny shankle has a video on this. it comes down to wash, moisturize, physically remove calluses, and wrap hands if you have to.

I use the same, I don't see how you can use double-overhand when weights get pretty serious, unless you're like a weight lifting meathead. However, I consider my "max" to be 2 reps, as I'll immediately switch my grip and do a 2nd lift alternating forward/back hands.
