tsinah/lex inspired me to brine a pastrami this morning. i'm glad they reminded me because it's just in time to be done by the weekend. i'm moving my bees and having some friends and family over, so it'll be 180 to do some nature shit and cook up some smoked meats for people important to me :) |

i've had the hive for a few years now and really neglected it last summer. which means it's FULL of fucking honey. it's also probably ready to split, so i should have two hives shortly. considering making mead because i'm gonna have so much fucking honey.
you should definitely consider it. it's way less time than people think. and people will think you're a wizard if you show up to a party with real honeycomb or something. |

If I had millions of dollars, I'd buy 200 acres and plant maple trees for syrup, wildflowers everywhere, and keep lots of hives. I only buy local honey, because I believe it really helps with seasonal allergies. It might just be a placebo effect, but I don't know. I use honey instead of sugar in most things that I cook.

I live in a house with a small back yard, and I don't think anyone would notice if I kept bees. My neighbor has chickens, for example. |

no one will notice if you keep bees. they forage very far from the hive. so long as you can put them around 10ft away from your neighbors property line, they'll be fine. you should absolutely do it. google "bee nuc". now is the time of year they start to take orders for these, and you could get one started by spring.
my shed used to be used partially a chicken coop and i'm planning on renovating it and having chickens. doing prole goy farm shit is 180 a billion. i love it. i just pickled 7 dozen eggs last weekend. |

It sucks because craftsman isn't "compatible" with dewalt, which is the brand of the vast majority of my power tools.
In an ideal world, I could be like one of those YouTube makers with a metal shop in my garage and fabricate compatible parts. It's the secret (((they))) don't want you to know. A CNC plasma cutter and some 1/8" steel makes you invincible. |

yes, you definitely need a beekeeper's suit. i wear one and still get stung a couple times when i check my hives. pros are able to do shit without getting stung the fuck up. but they have zen-like patience and ability not to panic after getting stung a couple times. i think it would be pretty much suicide as an amateur beekeeper to go in without a suit. as soon as you start swatting bees they go nuts and sting the fuck outta you. it doesn't matter if you're allergic, that shit hurts. there's a reason why they can defend against mammals larger than humans attacking a hive. |
