Lateral interview last Thursday. No word. Odds not dingfag'd?

their internal recruiter wrote and said they'd "be in touch soon." what the fuck is that supposed to mean. also she didn't give any feedback about how the interview went. I've never been dinged through the lateral process - do you usually get a letter or does the head of the firm call you up and tell you suck? somewhere in between? |

Think of it on their end..yea they need help but are running cases and stuff and they prob decided -yea we will hire him. Need the committee to approve, which may only meet once a month ....you may not be on their immediate radar |

Date: April 17th, 2015 3:47 PM Author: exciting institution french chef like i said below the last time i lateralled everything happened fast so when I hadn't heard anything by wednesday i started to become pretty sure i was your done here'd. i mean it's definitely possible that they just haven't gotten to it. i know one of the partners was heading out on vacation this week. but still, you'd think if it went well that at least their internal recruiter would say "everyone enjoyed meeting with you" blah blah. but she didn't say that.
on the other hand, if i bombed it it wouldn't be hard for them to send the ding! fag email and have it be done with. on the third hand the person who sends ding! fag emails may have just not gotten around to doing it and because there's nothing pressing about it she puts it very low on her to do list. |

Often they will schedule interviews with multiple candidates and pick one and there aren't regular hiring committee meetings when it's not recruiting season so it can take some time for a hire to be signed off on.
Give it at least a month before you get nervous. |

I actually lateraled once before this and pretty much got the offer on the spot but it was kind of a unique situation and I understand that's pretty rare in biglaw. nevertheless i guess I'm spoiled because of it. |
