"Just who was Lasko? We asked that question to one-hundred randomly selected poasters on XO and the range of responses were revealing both for their level of commitment to the memory of the man and the variety of impressions he had left on the active group of poasters. Some excerpts: 'Man, I watched Lasko poast growing up, '14, '15, '16. Those were wild times. He was always a guiding light though, through the thick of it.' (Poaster #12) 'There was never a thread where he wasn't active and engaged. He had this sense about him, like he could see the poast before it was placed. There was something magical about the guy.' (Poaster #46) 'Lasko was firecracker sharp and self-effacing at the same time--a unique combination. More than that, he picked up on trends and made them move through the bort. When I think about how to put together a good poast, I think of him first and foremost.' (Poaster #98) The results of this survey work are presented in detail in Section II.
While it seems clear then that, from an anecdotal perspective, Lasko enjoys a robust reputation on the bort, a treatment of the contemporaneous data provides a divergent picture. Using a coded statistically significant random samples and applying a novel sentiment-judging technique (see Methods), our team has analyzed historical records of current-to-poast commentary on Lasko. That analysis provides a far more nuanced picture of a poaster in a state of heavy event confluence whose reception varied significantly depending on the topic matter, poaster faction, and even periodicity of poasting time. The results of this analysis are presented in Section III.
What explains this gappiness between the then-contemporary versus current reception? In the final section of the paper, we unveil the results of a machine learning analysis of the bort's structural record, which we believe to be the first of its type. That analysis reveals a fascinating patterned tendency of poasting activity by Lasko, roughly following a daily-resetting fibonacci sequence which, when paired with poast logs, suggests that, behind the appearance of an ordinary poaster, the entity known as Lasko was engaged in a sophisticated, regimented approach to engagement with the bort beyond the ken of his peers. A full discussion of these findings is presented in Section IV.
Our belief is that this approach to poasting greatly contributed to the success of the bort over an approximately thirty-six month period and is a significant explanatory factor for the rise in reputation which Lasko has experienced since his disturbing disappearance in the spring of 2017. These impressions are explored in Section V and some suggestions for additional research are offered."
