I am taking a history class right now and the textbook is so completely biased that it makes me want to vomit. The only notable things that happened between 1800-1875 were the Trail of Tears, Abolition, Women's Rights, great strides in the improvement of our country through the expansion of federal power, Slaves, Slaves, and more Slaves, the Underground Railroad, the evil South and their Slaves, more Slaves, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Harriet Tubman, etc. The only white people we read about are slaveholders or abolitionists. I haven't even gotten to the Civil War yet, but I expect to learn a lot about Saint Lincoln and his Emancipation Proclamation (which freed the slaves of course). The only time in which Africa has been anything close to productive and/or prosperous was during the heyday of European colonialism (say 1700-1920). Once the European empires fell apart after WWI and WWII and gave all the African countries their independence, Africa quickly went right back down the toilet.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "by the time we leave for work, Americans have depended on the inventions from the minds of Blacks." Black history includes more than just slavery, Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and Marcus Garvey & W.E.B. Dubois.

Perhaps if isolated from all of the rest of the world for another thousand years, but certainly not before other countries stepped in and brought those things to the African people. Even today Africa is by far the most backwards continent. India and China are starting to become major players in international commerce. Where are strictly African countries in all of this?

ur high sense of doubtfulness comes from ur inherent racism against blacks, not from any sense of reasoning. this is clear bc "those things" were largely in place in africa before european colonialism. obviously, they traded! wtf?! also, blacks in africa utilized writing systems before colonialism, and managed to develop unique writing systems afterward.
africa is not "the most backward continent" in SPITE of colonialism, it is that way bc of it. neither india nor china were raped by european colonialism the way that africa was. ur analogies r poor. u literally cannot compare the global situation of africa, africans and their diaspora to the situation of any other people in the world. this is historically obvious.

The bottomline is what is your solution? Even if we assume that blacks are in the condition they are in today not because they are on average inherently inferior, but because of historical treatment by whites, why should I have to put up with the innumerable black pathologies? Whether your race's problems are the result of my (in part) ancestors or the result of your own deficiencies, I still want to be free from the rape, assault, murder, drugs, ebonics, and disruption that your race generally perpetuates on the rest of us. Therefore, I think the cause is irrelevant.

second, the definition of "civilized" is of course a highly relative one, but that's more an academic point. the real point here is that whites, throughout history if you think about it, have baed their self-professed superiority on series of binary oppositions that essentially say that "what we're good at is superior, and thus everything you're good at or do is inferior." for example, take the black white IQ debate. how is it usually framed? despite all the evidence that blacks actually pwn whites in many aspects of cognitive thinking -- and this is not to say that blacks are "superior" to whites, mind you -- whites have constructed a new, "pure" indicia of intelligence, called it "g," and anointed it the best measure of IQ currently available. is it really a surprise that this new measure of IQ "demonstrates" that whites are "better" than and "intellectually superior" to blacks? no.

Hell, calculus was invented independently at least twice in response to common problems. The Blackberry lawsuit with NTP illustrates that principle.

And since poor and relatively uneducated people made up the majority of farmers, those people weren't the hotbed of invention in the first place. Using more white people as farmers wouldn't have hurt much. It would have simply slowed growth. However, the progeny of those slaves later became a drag on society -- they slowed its growth through crime, incarceration costs, welfare, social unrest, etc.
