Pretty sure my niece traded sex for a rare labubu

They are only available at a small number of retailers in the U.S., but they sell out almost instantly. There are entire TikTok videos explaining what time of day they restock, how to manipulate your cart so that you can finish the checkout process before they sell out, etc. And then you usually have to drive long distances to actually pick up the box. It's today's equivalent of Cabbage Patch dolls or Beanie Babies for oldmos who remember past toy crazes that resulted in ridiculous prices.
The other thing about labubus is that they are sold in blind boxes. For each type of box, there are (I think) 6 common labubus and one limited edition rare labubu. There is only like a 1/72 chance of getting the rare one. Even the common ones can sell for $50 or more on eBay or StockX. But the rare ones sell for hundreds. So for those who think this is flame, the cost of a rare labubu doll is around the market rate for the cost of hiring a sex worker for an hour. |
