Chasov Yar looks super easy to defend. Ukraine better not lose it

In between those thin strips of hills is what looks like a death pit. I assume Russians are staying away from that area and pushing along these thin strips, which should be easy af to control. I'll see if I can find a map that shows this. If Ukraine can't hold this place they have bigger problems than just no ammo. Reading between the lines, they expect Russia to eventually take the Donbas provinces they've formally annexed, and then either reach a settlement or, failing that, the real war for Kiev and/or Odessa will start. |

The intensive assault on Chasov Yar and enemy positions south of the city continues for the fifth day. The day before, our units managed to knock out the enemy from the heights west of Kleshcheevka, and take full control of the village itself, where the Russian flag was hoisted.
But the enemy’s complete retreat beyond the canal line has not yet been confirmed (although some of his units may have fled to the rear). For now he still holds the territory in front of the canal itself south of Chasov Yar, but after taking the heights west of Kleshcheevka it will be easier to squeeze him out of there.
In Chasov Yar itself yesterday we also had a tactical success. After taking control of the local college building, located in the northeastern part of the microdistrict. The canal, which was the most important defense center for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, our units were able to clear the area of dachas located to the north from the enemy. This allowed us to level the line of advance north of the city and now allows us to further storm Kalinovka to the canal line.
At the same time, our pressure on those located beyond the microdistrict continues. Microdistrict channel New. But here, despite our consolidation in positions west of the canal, we cannot advance yet.
We also hope for good news from here, pray and keep our fingers crossed for the guys... |
