I like it here.

Firms are very suspicious of people applying here who are trying to flee the shitty Chicago legal market.

Well, I just started but from what I've heard this appears to be true. I overheard a couple of people talking about a bunch of apps from people currently in Chicago, and it wasn't favorable.

Try making up some connection with Indy. Say you lived there when you were 14 or something.

I just don't really come off as that kind of person. I interviewed at a couple of the firms during 1L and 2L OCI and it was epic fail.

I also have some great IP credentials, but I get the impression that IP in Indy is more life sciences and less CS oriented. Is that right?

I don't know about that last part. There's a bunch of EEs here, I'm a physics guy.

I think Estrada said he tried sending his resume to firms there and got dinged by everyone. Sounds like HLS wasn't enough to overcome the lack of ties.

I worked at a Chicago firm that has a very good relationship with an Indianapolis BIGLAW firm (we use them as local counsel on stuff in Indiana). I have personally worked on cases where this was the case.

I thought this gave me an "in", but nope.
