I have a BS in History/Communications and felt like I failed because I didn’t get the BA. Now that my degree isn’t making me money (broadcasting in the Midwest won’t pay any bills) I went back for an MBA. Now looking at the different requirements for a PhD vs a DBA make me realize liberal arts programs are no joke. I bow down! |

Date: September 4th, 2024 9:39 PM Author: fiercely-loyal razzle parlour mad cow disease At one point in the last conversation (read: screaming match) with my nmom, she was all upset about me not calling often enough and threw out “but as soon as you need something, who do you turn to?” I just looked at her like “WTF? I’m 40 years old. When’s the last time I asked you for anything?” There seems to be a running narrative in my family that I “can’t take care of myself, much less anyone else,” (quote from my sister) which is funny considering I’m disabled, raising three really awesome kids with varying disabilities pretty much alone, putting myself through undergrad with a double major and a master’s program with a likely assistantship lined up as soon as I graduate.
And that is why I haven’t spoken to any of them in more than a year. And my life is so much more peaceful for it. |
