Anyone suddenly realize, "shit, im really fucking ugly"?

Date: September 25th, 2012 11:09 PM Author: Bateful Buck-toothed Boiling Water Parlour as a guy i've never really asked anyone to rate my appearance, nor has anyone offered. i've never been photographed much or had self awareness. basically been living in my own world where i'm passably attractive (like a little above average) from looking at myself in the mirror from the same frontal perspective and selectively noticing (seeing) the good parts of my face.
today i downloaded this webcam thingy to get a panoramic look at my face, and it's devastating. i look nothing at all like the picture i have in my mind when i look at my 2-d image in the mirror. nothing at all. really made me realize the poor success ive had with women is grounded in reality and isn't a string of bad luck or "choosing" to remain single because i'm busy with other stuff.
anyone had this happen to them? i highly recommend doing this if you're a shut-in that hasn't seen photographs of yourself from literally every angle. |

so far as aesthetics go, the phrase "hot or not" is surprisingly trenchant. there is a small minority of people who are extremely good looking by almost any objective metric, another solid fraction who are decent looking people with different levels of appeal based on the evaluating party (this is your category), and then the uggos. any deviation from those three basic iterations is splitting hairs for self-esteem purposes. |

i think this explains why a lot of ugly ppl can have such false perceptions of themselves. |

if you visit scandanavia, 75% of the men have hair in about that shape by 25, and they're not all more or less bald by 40.
