I think you're fine, but going forward you should rethink your strategy. Most partners would rather have you ask for more time if you need it, if they will get better work product as a result.
Of course, there are times when they just need an answer immediately and cannot wait for it to be perfect. When you get an assignment, you should try to figure out how urgent it is and work appropriately.
