Was convinced my black English teacher hated me. I wasn't an idiot, I was in the gifted program but she treated me like a dolt, poor grades, etc. I remember that the teaching, in general, was weird -- like they used different, "radical" methods to teach us that confused me. Nothing was straightforward right or wrong. My parents pulled me out of the public schools after that year and put me in Catholic school and it was like night and day -- Catholic school was strict but it was pretty clear what you were supposed to learn. That year was like a wasted year in education.

Fights on the playground were routine.

Our gym teacher was a black woman and I still remember these black kids in my class talking over her and telling her how her pussy stank, etc. Basically, teachers got no respect.

Generally got made fun of for being a nerdy white kid.

Nothing really serious, just general bullying of any kid who liked to learn. I remember this nice black kid -- Esau -- brought in this quail's egg to show us. He thought it was pretty neat. Some other black kid smashed the egg. Silly shit like that that just adds up.

2. The regular wealthy/UMC who were going to send their kids to a great zoned public elementary before moving to the burbs or using private schools will need to make a hard decision. Those who were gonna move will probably move sooner. Those who were gonna go private in secondary school will need to consider finances. 6 extra years of private school for each of two kids is gonna be an extra $350-500k of after tax income spent on education.

this is something i could easily see libs making one of their causes nationwide. I happen to live in one of the best school districts in my state that's adjacent to one of the worst. if they did some merging of the districts or gerrymandered the fuck out of the boundaries it would unquestionably benefit the collective are but it would seriously fuck me over.
