Considering going Rosetta and trying to pick up a second language (I guess on xoxo I should specify that my first and only language is English).

I presume the most valuable language to pick up for IP would be one of Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese? German could also be a possibility.

Thoughts?

The big engineering languages tend to be German or Japanese. Then again if you're looking to find fraud, there's no one better than the Chinese.

Partner's at my firm visit various Asian countries multiple times a year, usually walking around with a personal translator. I think it would be highly useful to be the associate they could take with them.

Even high-ranking people in Japan do not speak English well. The fucking PRIME MINISTER cannot speak English at all.

lol @ "picking up" a second language using rosetta. if you are over 20 you will never become fluent in another language unless you are completely immersed in it.

Greetings,

ITT TannerBoyle confuses "fluent" with "native"

Plenty of 40yo FOBs move to the US from foreign countries and gain fluency in English. Not nativity (as in, no FOBby accent), but fluency (fully understand the language and can easily express any idea).
