The GOAT Candidates
Michael Jordan: ≈ 11.4 inches span / 9.75 inches length. Widely cited by coaches like Phil Jackson as a massive physical advantage that allowed him to palm and maneuver the basketball like a grapefruit.
LeBron James: ≈ 9.25 inches span / 9 inches length. Though technically smaller than Jordan's, his exceptional ball security and passing ability more than compensate for the slight difference.
Kobe Bryant: ≈ 9 inches length. Considered "small" for an elite shooting guard, but his flawless footwork and fundamentals made him an all-time great.
Wilt Chamberlain: ≈ 11.5 inches span / 9.5 inches length. Helped him dominate scoring and rebounding before the modern era.

Those were team games against bigs that were nowhere near as fast, as strong, and as mobile--upwardly or laterally--as Wilt. 1 on 1, Jordan gets chumped. Easily. His era's rules, late Wilt era rules, and especially early era Wilt rules (no goaltending = ☠️💀☠️), and it's hardly even a game
Wilt wasn't just quick agile, or skilled "for a big," he was all of those things for a player of any size. He gets slept on in goat conversations because of the TEAM aspect. But in pure 1v1 capability, he's in a league of his own

Interesting
You always hear about his desire to win and grit and insane competitiveness
But might all be due to the fact that he has the hands of a 7'6'' man...
