It's the artificial lubricant that makes the gears turn and keeps the pistons firing, brother. Without it, it's just metal on metal, the friction is unbearable.

I think the drive for money (proxy for power) is to distinguish ones self in order to fuck more.

Author: Adamo Tuti (⚖️)

After visiting the Paris office of Baron James de Rothschild in the early 1840s, Heinrich Heine wrote: "Money is the god of our time, and Rothschild is his prophet...

"[Money] possesses the moral force or power which religion has lost, it can act as a surrogate for religion—indeed, it is a new religion, and when the old religion finally goes under it will provide substitutes for its practical blessings."

We are still living this paradigm nearly 200 years later.

it's kind of interesting how the rise of gunpowder basically forced this transformation

Because of the egalitarian aspect of a peasant being able to take out an expensive knight? I think black death pushed the idea of wages to the forefront.

Money is instrumental. In many men, it brings comfort, security, and leisure to pursue higher things that partake more in the beautiful, the good, and the true, like arts and maths and philosophy.

money but also just a how humans are victims of free market and distorted markets, there is no love, kinship or anything

like a big reason families died in west is cause as u industrialized parents didnt need lots of kids to work farms

so they were having kids basically for free labour, once they didnt need it they greatly reduced having kids

and social security ruined incentive to take care of kids so they wld take care of u in old age so lots of families just broke down

theres lots of other things like this but shitlibs wld never admit
