The table that ranks firm by "any involvement" has to be the dumbest thing ever. Counsel to the banks get as much juice in the rankings as counsel to the principals, even though they get 1/50th of the fees.

It's still good business, and except for Wachtell, every firm jockeys for good relationship with the banks. Anyway, Simpson really cleaned up the rankings this quarter for both US targets and total.

What's up Hazelrah. Is there a page where I can get the M&A or debt or equity league tables for investment banks? The thomson website is really confusing for me.

I was pretty amazed when I found out people at ibanks devour updated versions of these things every week. Maybe it's the MDs trying to predict how many zeroes will be in their bonus figure.

I bet you can read the M&A rankings while you wait in your office idle until 10 pm when you are allowed to check out with your secretary and leave.

no, it doesn't. the secretaries are gone by 6 at most firms anyway, and if a partner needs you, there's the blackberry.

1st Quarter 2006 numbers are out now. Simpson is still running strong: #1 in US announced, #2 in US completed, #1 in US target announced and completed, #3 in worldwide announced and completed.

Fried Frank pretty high from the Bellsouth deal, and S&C and Skadden are back in the top as well. Sidley did two big deals and Latham seems higher than usual for some reason (volume, I think).

If I could find AmLaw's full Corporate Scorecard I would post that. The stuff on their website is boring, except for Orrick's dominance in municipal bonds.
